Little Messenger Bag

We have quite a few little ones (ages 3-6) who have either
just had a birthday (and I'm late) or who will have one in the coming months.
I was inspired by my friend Kyla's messenger bag for her oldest son (scroll down a bit through the pictures...it's there, I promise! Meanwhile, enjoy her adorable kids). She got her pattern from here
The pattern is for an adult sized bag, so both of us sized them down a bit.
I already had the owl fabric and wanted an embellishment to
match. I found the owl at JoAnn's...it's a perfect match even though
it's a different brand!
Under the flap is a crayon or colored pencil holder.

Detail on the strap

I added an extra pocket and lined the top of them with lace.

Now I just have to break it to Emma that this one's not for her!

Very nice work! I finally whipped out my sewing machine this weekend and it felt great!
