Pink Sprinkle Tee

A friend requested a sprinkle tee for a new niece...it was fun to  make one in pink!
{Original idea found here}

On the original Sprinkle tee (Orange "J"), I was able to embroider the letter directly on the onesie.
This time that didn't work so well...the pink knit was just too thin.
Instead, I used reverse embroidery (the outer dark pink stitch) and then
added the rest of the embroidery after that was complete.

Our Weekend

Blogger decided to cooperate, so here are some pics from our weekend.
I'm able to enjoy the roses Bob got for me last week in another form...
they are beautiful dried!

We had some special houseguests over the weekend.  The kids thoroughly enjoyed spending some time with Cheryl and Jeanie.  Emma and Cheryl made different creations with her Magnetix toys, and Ryan tried his hardest to beat Jeanie at both pool and air hockey.

Emma has been in a music class since September.  It's called "Let's Play Music."  It's a three year program, and at the end of the three years she'll be playing piano at an intermediate level, be able to compose music and be fluent in music theory.  While having a ton of fun, she's learned a lot this year.  She had her recital on Saturday...and did great.  She had a duet on the tone bells and played all the right notes!  (I've tried numerous times to upload the videos of her solo and of Ryan's solo, but it's just not working).

The recital hall happened to be right next to a wonderful bakery, so we headed there after the recital.  On the way, though, we got a bit distracted with the way the sun was making these tulips simply glow!

And, since we had company and would have help eating it, I decided it was
the perfect weekend for an apple pie.  Yum!

We enjoyed a bit of sunshine on Saturday afternoon and took a walk in our nearby nature park.  Jeanie and Emma had a bit of fun stirring up the ants.  :)

Ryan's Choir Concert

Ryan had his final choir concert last Thursday.  He had a great time in choir this year.  They were able to sing at the State Capital and a senior center at Christmas time.  Last week, they performed for the parents on Thursday.  On Friday, they performed for the school, at two senior centers, and at the middle school they'll end up at in a couple of years.  Ryan had a solo in this concert, but the video refuses to upload to my blog.  So just a sweet picture of my dear boy (who's growing up way too fast!) smiling at me.

Please stand by...

...as we are experiencing technical difficulties.
Blogger is giving me a hard time this week with posting photos.
Emma's down with a stomach virus.
We'll be back ASAP!

Sewing: Card Holder

I snuck away downstairs for a few minutes this afternoon and made another card holder.
I love how these come together...and that they are a great way to use scraps!

Aren't they cute sittin' there on the shelf together?
Each of these is holding ten cards...I think a few more just might fit.

And room inside for a pen and book of stamps.
Be on the lookout for a new version of this sometime in the next couple of weeks
(as soon as I'm able to sneak back down!)

Progress!

Finally, after way too long, I finished the curtains for the hall pantry.  I love how they look...much prettier than the wooden bi-fold doors that always seemed to be blocking the hallway.

And the curtains for the game closet...

When we moved in, this shelving unit was on the wall downstairs.  It looked nice down there, but it has served no purpose whatsoever for the last year.  Ryan has tons of little things that needed a home...so we decided to move this up to his room.  Man...was it heavy!!  It works perfectly, holding all of his collections, toys, awards...and there's still room!

Emma and Trevor found a fun use for the hall curtains.  :)

So much for taking a week-long vacation from the blog, eh?

Easter and Mom & Dad's 40th Anniversary

Emma and Ryan on Easter

I love the leaves on this tulip.

Me and my kiddos

Mom and Dad's 40th Anniversary fell on Easter this year.
We had dinner at Max and Amanda's to celebrate.
The food was delicious and the time spent together was wonderful.
Congratulations to Mom and Dad for 40 years!

Our family, just missing Matt

Me and Bob...so nice to get to spend some time with him again!

This is how our attempts at a family photo go...Emma's pretending to be a
rabbit and Ryan is goofing off.

Just a little bit better...  :)

We hope that you all had a wonderful weekend.
Just a note...I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from the blog...just until next Monday.
We've got some special company coming for the weekend, and I've got a
bit to do before they arrive.  Have a great week!
