In the backyard, along the side fence, we have several lilacs (my favorite!),
a cherry tree, and this thing. It's a viney thing that's pulling the lilacs over and pulling the cherry tree branches down. If you look on the left side of the tree where it's lighter brown all of the way to the top? That's the vine. It's about two feet thick on top of the fence and full of dead leaves. I honestly couldn't care how beautiful it might be in the summer...I've reached the point where it has to go. It's taking over everything that's growing near it and is entrenching into the neighbor's yard. So, I started the job yesterday of pulling it out. I worked on it for an hour and fifteen minutes and I'm about half way done. It's hard work because the branches wrap around each other, the other trees, the fence, anything it comes in contact with.
This is where I ended up yesterday. I discovered that there are several bird house bases on the partial wood fence. I have a huge pile of brush (and no idea how to get rid of it in town!) and a lot of work still to do. I can't wait until it's done, though. It looks so much nicer already. I can envision the bed along the fence overflowing with flowers! And lilacs!

Rory would just set it on fire...but that's okay in the country!

Isn't it so nice to get out in the yard and work. I can't wait to see what you bring to life!
