Fourth of July!

Independence Day 2011

Our day started early in the kitchen.  We put a bit of Sweet Mexican Style Pulled-Pork from their
cookbook into the crockpot and then made a large pan of delicious, chocolate gooey-ness from
her cookbook.  Oh, so delicious!

{Is your mouth watering?}
Then we had a bunch of people over for a mid-afternoon BBQ.
The weather was perfect, the shade was much appreciate and the company
so enjoyable.  After filling our bellies, we headed off to
our evening entertainment.

Most of us headed to the races.
It was loud, stinky (I'm still wondering how much damage was done to my lungs
as I sat next to a chain-smoker for 5.5 hours), hot...and a good time!

Dad, Mom, and Violet

Johnny and Donna

Emma and Wyatt
{I didn't get photos of the rest of Wyatt's family...oops!}

And the fireworks?  They were A~M~A~Z~I~N~G!!!
The first bunch went off right in front of us...literally right in front of us.
Then came about 20 minutes of continual, majestic color.
They were the best fireworks we've ever seen.
But don't tell anyone...we don't want to too crowded next year!

And just a couple of fireworks at home.
Still a favorite with the kids...sparklers!

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday....Happy Birthday, America!
