Those long summer evenings

I know!
~
It's not summer yet.
But with the warmer temps and sunshine later
into the evenings, it's starting to feel like summer!
Last night felt like it.
On Wendesday, Emma asked if we could make chocolate covered pretzels with sprinkles.
Bob loves these (and I don't mind them either), so we decided to make this for a treat last night. What is it about the combination of sweet and salty? Yum!

Did you know that two broken pretzels can become a butterfly?

After an easy breakfast-for-dinner, I headed out to mow the lawn. Then, I worked on removing some of the weeds that are dying a slow death (gotta love weed spray!). After that, I planted some marigolds along the back of the house. Half way through the planting, the kids discovered that I was outside. Out came the kids, out came the bubbles, out came the fun!

I love this photo of Emma racing after a bubble.

Bob was the official bubble blower until he got light headed.
Then it was my turn. Wal-Mart has these fabulous bubble wands ($1!!) that make
huge bubbles just by waving them through the air.

I went inside to put away my camera and then glanced out the window.
This is what the kids were looking at.

"What do you see?"
~
I remember doing this in the car when I was a kid...trying to see
what I could see in the clouds.
Jsut before this photo, they were wrestling on the ground.
Gotta sneak a sweet photo in once in a while.

While I read the next chapter in book #26 of "The Secrets of Droon," Ryan
taught Emma how to draw a lightening bolt. It was so sweet watching him teach
her step-by-step.

Tthe finished product.

After convincing me to read "just one more chapter," Emma designed
a new monster...

...while Ryan drew another new character in his book. He's started to design a new series of characters that evolve into other things...kinda like Pokemon, but from his own imagination.
~
The evening ended with the kids in bed, Bob playing a game on the computer and me sitting across the room from him working on a scrapbooking project.
~
Perfect evening.

If ever a day could be called perfect, that sounds like it came pretty close! I look forward to seeing you all at Parma this year!
